March was an exciting and busy month for SurvTech Solutions not only out in the field but marked by active participation across industry conferences, sponsorships, and speaking engagements.
Out and About Highlights:
To start the month off the team attended the Critical Infrastructure Protection & Resilience North America (CIPRNA) event, gaining valuable insights into protecting and strengthening critical infrastructure systems. Internationally, SurvTech then participated in the 6th International Congress of Surveying, Cadastre, and Geospatial Sciences in Puerto Rico, engaging with leaders in the geospatial community and exploring advancements in surveying and mapping.
Followed by proudly sponsoring the CREW Tampa Bay 30-Year Anniversary Celebration, supporting an organization dedicated to advancing women in commercial real estate and strengthening local industry connections.
In addition, SurvTech exhibited at the THSOA Southeast Chapter & USM Technical Talk, connecting with professionals in the hydrographic surveying industry, and attended the Florida Natural Gas Association 2026 Spring Meeting and Operation Education Summit. As well as the 2026 ASPRS Mid-South Region Conference, where SurvTech attended and presented on the company's key capabilities.
Maintaining our focus on supporting both industry and education, SurvTech sponsored the SAME Golf Tournament, with proceeds benefiting scholarships for students pursuing STEM fields through the SAME Tampa Bay Post.
The month concluded with sponsored, exhibited, and spoke at the JTED & MacDill AFB Industry Day Conference, where the team engaged with industry partners and contributed to a panel discussion on the path to CMMC certification for small businesses, sharing practical insights and guidance to help organizations navigate the process.
From local community engagement to international conferences, SurvTech continues to strengthen industry relationships, support educational initiatives, and lead conversations across the geospatial landscape.
From the Field to the Classroom:
SurvTech Solutions continues to make a meaningful impact in the community by supporting the next generation of geospatial professionals through hands-on education and industry engagement.
In March, our team connected with students in the Fundamentals of UAS Mapping course at the University of Florida’s Plant City campus. As part of their final field lab, students collected tree measurements that they will later compare against data derived from UAS-based LiDAR point clouds. This experience helped bridge the gap between traditional surveying methods and advanced remote sensing technologies. President David O’Brien joined the session to share insights into the innovative tools shaping the industry, from aerial LiDAR and 3D laser scanning to hydrographic surveying and mobile mapping systems. Giving students valuable perspective on future career paths.
Continuing the support of higher education, SurvTech also visited Florida Polytechnic University to engage with students in the Civil Engineering program’s Surveying course. During this session, our team introduced how UAV systems are used in geospatial surveying projects, providing practical context to complement classroom learning and further demonstrating the evolving role of technology in the field.
Our commitment to education extends beyond universities. During a recent visit to a local third-grade classroom, SurvTech introduced younger students to the fundamentals of surveying in a fun and interactive way. Students explored how maps and measurements are used in real life, learned the importance of area and perimeter, and discovered how land features and habitats connect to surveying. The visit culminated in a hands-on map exercise, where students used a custom map of their school to guide our team around campus, bringing learning to life through exploration.
Commitment to Educating the Next Generation of Geospatial Scientists
From elementary classrooms to university labs, SurvTech is proud to invest in the next generation by fostering curiosity, supporting experiential learning, and helping shape the future of geospatial science.
Awards & Celebrations:
SurvTech Solutions is proud to be recognized for its continued leadership in safety and innovation. In 2025, we exceeded Mosaic’s Safety Performance Goal and were honored as one of only two companies to receive the prestigious Excellence in Safety Leadership Award.
This marks the third consecutive year SurvTech has earned this distinction, an achievement that reflects our team’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, leadership, and operational excellence across every project.
This year’s recognition highlights a key risk-reduction initiative that transformed how we collect critical data in challenging environments. By transitioning from traditional methods, often requiring crews to navigate difficult terrain and deploy boats to aerial data acquisition using our bathymetric LiDAR system, we significantly reduced exposure to potential hazards while also improving efficiency and overall project outcomes.
This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication of our entire team, who continue to lead by example and set the standard for safe, innovative solutions in the field.
This past month we also took time to celebrate Micheal Rook’s 10-year anniversary working at SurvTech. His dedication and expertise to his role have made a lasting impact on our team and the clients we serve. His decade of service reflect the values that define
SurvTech- quality, integrity and teamwork.
